Abstract

The rapid growth of e-commerce transactions in Indonesia has unlocked vast digital economic potential while simultaneously posing complex ethical and Sharia compliance challenges. Widespread digital trade practices containing opaque product descriptions, unilateral contract terms, hidden interest-based financing schemes (riba), and elements of uncertainty or manipulation (gharar) call for an objective, measurable, and information technology-driven evaluation system. This study aims to design and implement a web-based Decision Support System (DSS) to measure the Islamic business ethics compliance level of e-commerce platforms using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. The decision hierarchy consists of 4 main criteria: Product & Transaction Transparency (C1), Contract Clarity & Terms (C2), Freedom from Gharar & Riba (C3), and Honesty & Customer Care (C4), divided into 12 sub-criteria. Criteria preference weights were derived from evaluations by 7 Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh Muamalah) experts and information systems practitioners. The results reveal that Freedom from Gharar & Riba carries the highest weight at 0.412 (41.2%), followed by Contract Clarity at 0.268 (26.8%), Product Transparency at 0.185 (18.5%), and Honesty & Customer Care at 0.135 (13.5%), with a Consistency Ratio (CR) of 0.038 (CR < 0.10, highly consistent). Empirical evaluation on 5 major Indonesian e-commerce platforms demonstrated compliance index scores ranging from 69.0% to 91.2%. Software quality testing based on ISO 25010 standards yielded 100% functional suitability and an 89.4% user usability score. The developed DSS proves highly effective as an automated Sharia audit tool for e-commerce vendors and a trusted guideline for Muslim consumers in conducting Sharia-compliant digital commerce.
